Quick answer
Google AI Pro vs ChatGPT Plus comes down to how you work, not price. The plans cost almost the same ($19.99 vs $20 a month), but they suit different people:
- Choose Google AI Pro if you use Gmail, Docs or Google Photos. You get Gemini 4 Argon plus 5TB of storage, which on its own covers a big part of the price.
- Choose ChatGPT Plus if you want a standalone all-round assistant: GPT-6 Sol, image creation, Codex for coding and the interactive answers of Intelligent UI.
Google AI Pro vs ChatGPT Plus at a glance (October 2026)
| Google AI Pro | ChatGPT Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| US price | $19.99/month | $20/month |
| Bangladesh price | ৳2,500/month (Google’s BD page) | Billed in USD, roughly ৳2,400–2,500 with card fees |
| Main model | Gemini 4 Argon (plus Pro and Flash) | GPT-6 Sol |
| Cloud storage | 5TB (Gmail, Drive, Photos) | None |
| Works inside | Gmail, Docs, Vids, Android, Search (AI Mode) | ChatGPT apps, many third-party connectors |
| Coding | Antigravity (preliminary limits) | Codex (limited GPT-6 Astra) |
| Video | 1,000 Flow credits a month | Not the main focus |
| Usage limits | Compute-based, refresh every 5 hours, weekly cap | Text chat unlimited (abuse guardrails); Codex 5-hour and weekly caps |
Twenty dollars a month. That’s what both Google and OpenAI ask for their main AI plans, which leaves a simple question: if you’re only going to pay for one, which should it be?
The top models are now close enough that the model alone shouldn’t decide it. What you do all day matters more. Google AI Pro is a Google account upgrade with a top AI model inside it. ChatGPT Plus is a standalone AI assistant with nothing else attached.
Everything below comes from Google’s and OpenAI’s own plan pages and the reports listed under Sources, not from reviews written before this autumn’s model launches.
What you actually get on each plan
A lot of comparisons still talk about “Gemini Advanced” and GPT-5. Both are out of date. As of October 2026:
- Google AI Pro includes Gemini 4 Argon, Google’s new top model, alongside the faster Pro and Flash models. Google started rolling Argon out to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search on October 13, 2026 (Google). The plan also puts Gemini inside Gmail, Docs and Vids (Google AI plans).
- ChatGPT Plus runs GPT-6 Sol in chat. OpenAI rolled it out to paid plans on October 7 along with Intelligent UI, answers that can include charts, calculators and small interactive tools (9to5Mac). Plus also gets limited use of the top model, GPT-6 Astra, in Codex (OpenAI Codex pricing).
Which model is smarter? On Artificial Analysis’s independent Intelligence Index, Gemini 4 Argon and GPT-6 Astra both score 53, so it’s a tie at the top. We went through the numbers in GPT-6 vs Gemini 4. And on Plus you mostly chat with Sol, not Astra. On a $20 plan, the difference you’ll notice day to day is where the AI lives, not how smart it is.

The hidden value: 5TB of storage
This is the part people overlook. Google AI Pro includes 5TB of storage shared across Gmail, Drive and Google Photos (Google AI plans). Google raised it from 2TB on April 1, 2026, with no price change (Digital Trends).
If you already pay Google for extra storage, or your phone keeps warning you that Photos is full, AI Pro replaces that bill. Then you’re effectively getting Gemini 4 Argon for far less than $20. ChatGPT Plus includes no storage at all.
Don’t care about storage? Skip this section. It doesn’t make Gemini smarter, it just changes the maths.
Everyday chat, writing and studying
Both handle emails, summaries, explanations and first drafts. They differ in where they work best. ChatGPT puts more into one app: chat, file analysis, voice, image generation and Deep Research (OpenAI Help Center). It can also remember your preferences, and Intelligent UI can answer with charts, calculators and small interactive tools, which suits budgets, comparisons and “explain this with a diagram” questions.
Gemini is at its best when the work is already in Google. Ask it to summarise an email thread in Gmail, draft a reply, or pull points from a Doc, and you never leave the app you’re in.
For long-form writing specifically, neither is our top pick. See our best AI writing tools guide. Students should also look at best AI tools for students, which covers NotebookLM. AI Pro includes 5x more NotebookLM Audio Overviews, notebooks and more.
Research and up-to-date answers
Both plans include Deep Research, which reads dozens of web pages and writes a cited report. Gemini has one extra: AI Pro unlocks Gemini 4 Argon in AI Mode inside Google Search itself, so you can use it where you already search.
Whichever you use, click the sources. Both can still misread a page or cite something that doesn’t quite say what they claim.
Coding
If you write code, ChatGPT Plus looks like the stronger $20 option, based on what each plan includes. Plus gets Codex with limited GPT-6 Astra usage, and you can buy credits for more (OpenAI Codex pricing). The model benchmarks don’t settle it. In vendor-reported results, Astra leads FrontierSWE v2 and Terminal-bench 4.0, while Argon leads DeepSWE (details in GPT-6 vs Gemini 4).
Google AI Pro includes Antigravity, Google’s agentic coding platform, but with what Google calls “preliminary” rate limits for agent models. Google AI Ultra, from $99.99 a month in the US, gets more Antigravity access, and its top tier the most (Google AI plans). For a deeper look at coding tools, see Claude Code vs Cursor vs GitHub Copilot.
Images and video
Both plans can generate images. In our free AI image generators guide we rate ChatGPT best at following detailed prompts and among the most reliable for readable text, and Gemini best for photo editing.
Video is where AI Pro offers more on paper. It includes 1,000 Flow credits a month, a limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite and 4x the Free plan’s usage limits (Google AI plans). If you make YouTube Shorts or Reels, that matters. Our guide on making YouTube videos with AI shows how to use it.
Usage limits: both have caps
Neither plan is unlimited across the board:
- Google AI Pro: Gemini app limits are compute-based. They factor in prompt complexity, the features you use and chat length, refresh every 5 hours, and stop at a weekly limit. You can buy AI credits for more (Google AI plans).
- ChatGPT Plus: everyday text chats are listed as unlimited, subject to abuse guardrails (ChatGPT pricing). Codex has separate limits. OpenAI estimates 15–150 GPT-6 Sol local messages per five hours on Plus, and 5–45 for GPT-6 Astra. These are estimates, not fixed limits, and weekly limits may also apply (OpenAI Codex pricing). OpenAI restored 5-hour limits for Codex and ChatGPT Work in August (9to5Mac).
Google doesn’t publish message counts, so how far your AI Pro allowance goes depends on what you ask. On ChatGPT Plus, the published caps apply to Codex rather than everyday text chat.
Price in Bangladesh
- Google AI Pro is listed at ৳2,500 a month on Google’s Bangladesh plan page, priced in taka, with the same 5TB of storage. Google says Gemini 4 Argon is available in select countries, so check that it shows up in your account before you rely on it.
- OpenAI’s Help Center lists ChatGPT Plus at $20 a month, billed monthly (OpenAI Help Center). We couldn’t confirm a taka price from OpenAI, so what you pay depends on the exchange rate and your card’s international transaction fees. The Business Standard reported roughly Tk2,400–2,500 a month.
Avoid “cheap shared accounts.” Unofficial resellers offer shared ChatGPT or Gemini logins for less. They break terms of service, can be cut off at any time, and whoever runs the account can read your chats. Pay directly, or use the free plans until you’re ready.
Google AI Pro vs ChatGPT Plus: which should you choose?

- Google AI Pro if you live in Gmail, Docs and Android, need more storage, or make videos. For most Google users it’s the better value.
- ChatGPT Plus if you code regularly, or want AI as its own workspace rather than inside other apps.
- Neither, yet, if you only ask a few questions a week. Both free plans are good enough. Try both for a week and see which one you keep opening.

Our verdict
If you already use Google every day, Google AI Pro is the better deal in 2026: a top-tier model plus 5TB of storage for about the same money. If you code, or you want a standalone assistant and don’t need the storage, ChatGPT Plus is the one to pay for.
Start free with Gemini and ChatGPT, then pay for the one you actually reach for.
